What is barbell effect and how we can use it

The barbell effect is the search of the asymmetry; in economy it means founding an investment with high-result with low-risk of failure.

The main idea is to avoid the middle and focus on finding the greatest advantage we can get; we must have strength against black swans.

Let’s make an example:

if you invest 10% of your capital in very high-risk actions but you have the remaining 90% percent in dollar.

(if you are protected from inflation), if it goes wrong you have lost only 10%, but you have high potential of earn. Meanwhile if you invest 100% in low-risk actions, you can lose the 100% of your capital for a calculation error!

Think about it, mistakes are important, but they don’t have to be destructive! You need to be able to learn from the mistakes you’ve made.

The writing career is one of the most difficult to undertake ever, you have to be inspired and concentred, if you do the academic probably is hardest for you. When you leave the academic you can be good to remove all the thoughts and immerge yourself into the writing, but probably is not that easier remove the academic pressure.

Different if you do a job in a certain period of the day that allows you not to think about it before the next day.

Whatever, I use the barbell strategy for more of my personal thing, when I have to take a decision, I’m trying to analyse the risk and take the conclusions

Work hard and smart

Usually, we can’t concentrate or we don’t have enough constancy to put the face down and start work.

But there are different things that can help you to work hard and constancy.

The first step: create table of habits.

Everyone has bad habits, and sometimes we don’t realize it, so the first step is to write down all the same actions you’ve done from when you get up to when you go to bed.

This exercise yourself to recognize what actions are habits and which ones are not.

Second step: delete the bad ones

After writing all the bad habits on paper, recognise the bad ones, and try to make it difficult and hard for you, for example if you want to be more concentrated on school and you have the bad habits of watch to much TV, make it hard for you, you can unplug the TV or move it in a different room, try yourself.

Third step: create good habits

Create a healthy ambient is the key, if you live in a toxic place, you’ll be toxic, if you live in a place of criminal you’ll might be a criminal, if you can’t be constancy try to split your ambient. In some cases, have the same place for multiple actions have a bad effect in your productivity, for example if you study and read books, search a place to read books and one for study, so will be easy for your brain to understand what is the priority in this specific ambient.
